Heartsmith’s Summer Enrichment Program

Our Kids’ Summer Program is a nature-based, social-emotional learning experience where children (age 6-11) can explore, create, and grow within a supportive community.

Throughout the program, kids spend their days outdoors—gardening, observing wildlife, making art, playing cooperative games, and building confidence through hands-on experiences. They also participate in basic homestead activities, such as collecting eggs, helping care for animals, and tending to the land—learning real-life skills that connect them to both nature and responsibility.

Each day includes time for reflection and journaling, helping children build self-awareness, process emotions, and take pride in their growth.

We’re also excited to welcome guest speakers from our local community, who will share their knowledge and experiences in areas like gardening, nature education, and practical life skills—adding even more depth and inspiration to the program.

This program is offered free of charge to the families we serve, making it accessible to those who may not otherwise have access to summer enrichment opportunities.

In 2026, our focus is on building a strong, meaningful foundation—deepening the outdoor experience, strengthening social-emotional learning, and creating something sustainable that can return and grow year after year.

We are currently in the final stages of fundraising to support staffing, program supplies, meals, and the infrastructure needed to safely host children on the land.
